Trust & Safety

Giving should feel safe. Here is exactly how we protect backers, creators and the integrity of every campaign on socialchange.tech.

Every campaign is reviewed by a human

Before any campaign can accept contributions, our team reviews it for authenticity, clarity and social impact alignment. We check that the story is coherent, the budget adds up to the funding goal, and the campaign maps to at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal.

Campaigns that misrepresent their purpose, raise funds for prohibited activities, or cannot demonstrate a credible plan are rejected with a written explanation. Creators may revise and resubmit.

Payments are processed by Stripe

We never see or store your card details. All contributions are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment provider used by millions of businesses worldwide.

Creator payouts run through Stripe Connect, which independently verifies the identity and bank details of every campaign creator before any funds can be transferred.

All-or-Nothing pledge protection

Campaigns using the All-or-Nothing model never charge you immediately. Your pledge is only collected if the campaign reaches its full funding goal before its deadline.

If the goal is not reached, every payment hold is automatically released — you are never charged, and no action is needed on your part.

Refunds

If a campaign is found to violate our rules after funding, or a serious misrepresentation comes to light, our team can issue refunds directly to backers through Stripe.

Refunded amounts are returned to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days, and you are notified by email.

Your account is protected

Signing in with a password requires a one-time 6-digit code sent to your email, so a stolen password alone is never enough to access your account. Codes expire after 10 minutes and lock after repeated failed attempts.

You can also sign in with Google, and reset your password at any time through a secure, single-use email link.

Transparency requirements

Every campaign must publish an itemized budget that adds up to its funding goal, so backers can see exactly how money will be used before contributing.

Creators are encouraged to post regular campaign updates; backers are notified by email when news is published on a campaign they support.

Reporting a concern

If you believe a campaign is fraudulent, misleading or otherwise violates our rules, please contact our team with the campaign link and a short description of your concern.

We investigate every report. Where warranted, we suspend the campaign and the account behind it, freeze pending payouts, and issue refunds to backers.

Your data stays yours

We collect only the information needed to run the platform, never sell personal data, and use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for everything. See our Terms & Privacy page for full details.
